Windows xp blue screen no login

As a precaution you can back up your data by hooking up your harddrive as a slave drive into another pc and then copy and data you want to save off the slave drive just in case something goes wrong with the repair install. I tried to boot in safe mode by pushing the F8 button. Went to the login screen still blank. No user accounts. Just the XP blue screen. Also tried Last known good configuration when the computer worked. Still the same thing. I asked him if he installs windows security updates and he said no.

He doesn't scan for spyware either.
